Introducing Makita

Due to the total unexpected and abrupt loss of our sweet female, Margo, we thought we were done and Canadian Shepherds was a beautiful memory. Little did we know that one special Canadian Shepherd puppy would turn into a beautiful, well-mannered Canadian Shepherd mama! We would like to introduce Makita, the next link on our rebooted quest to establish the official recognition of the Canadian Shepherd breed.

Born late winter, 2023, she was adopted by a great family down the road from us here in Northern BC. This family loved her and trained her well--but her incredibly laid-back nature left them lacking the more ferocious and territorial traits they felt they needed to protect their farm and home. So another lovely family adopted her, and there she has been flourishing.
This winter, they noticed a little too late that she came into heat--and she was bred by the friendly neighbour dog (who looks like he could be Margo's brother). And a couple months later they were blessed with the experience seeing Makita whelp five sweet, little Canadian Shepherds--four females and one male.

Makita immediately showed the traits and instincts of her mother, from digging out an old, abandoned fox hole to whelp her puppies in, to giving them such attentive care and training. We went to visit her and her new litter, and were so impressed with her calm manners and sweet friendliness. Her puppies are of course adorable and look like a litter from Finley and Margo. The runt of the litter stole our hearts, and we claimed her right away. We are so excited to announce this new development, and, as of this writing, the puppies are almost all spoken for! There are only two females left, so if you've been waiting for a Canadian Shepherd don't hesitate to check them out!
